Square: Inverkirkaig - Stoer - Kylesku - Ledmore

General

In the North Western corner of Scotland you can find Assynt. It is bounded on four corners by the Point of Stoer, Kylesku, Ledmore and Inverkirkaig.

The fishing village of Lochinver is the biggest village in Assynt, but the population of Assynt also live around some coastal communities from Inverkirkaig to Clachtoll, Stoer and Drumbeg. In earlier times there were also people living in the small inland hamlets of Inchnadamph and Elphin.

In this square you can, among other things, find below mentioned villages:

Lochinver

The village of Lochinver is a scenic 20-minute drive away from our Bed and Breakfast and has all local amenities including shops, mobile bank, medical centre, garage, post office, leisure centre, restaurants and pubs. The pier at Lochinver is frequently visited by local and continental fishing boats.

Inverkirkaig

Inverkirkaig is a scattered settlement lying along the northern side of Loch Kirkaig and it has a broad pebble beach, behind which runs the narrow single track road from Achiltibuie to Lochinver.

The name Inverkirkaig comes from a combination of Old Norse and Gaelic common in north west Scotland.

Ledmore

Ledmore is the furthest point inland in Assynt and is wedged between three lochs, Loch Borralan, Loch Urigill and Cam Loch.

Information about the villages of Stoer and Kylesku you can find on the separate pages on the right.
